PHILIPSBURG–On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Members of Parliament participated in an Orientation meeting with the Social Economic Council (SER). The SER was represented in Parliament by the Chairman, Harlec Doran, Acting Secretary-General (SG)/Senior Policy advisor, drs. ing. Sharon Arnell, Legal advisor, Cheryll Bute LL.M, and policy advisor, Ursela Salomon. Due to the early elections held on August 19, 2024, following the dissolution of Parliament in January 2024, an Orientation period was organized for the (new) Members of Parliament.
As part of the Orientation, the SER was invited to the House of Parliament to provide the Members with information regarding the legal framework, work method, and recent developments. The Orientation meeting started with a PowerPoint presentation by the Chairman of the SER, outlining the changes in the revised National Ordinance SER, the work method, and also the working relationship between Parliament and the advisory body. During the session Members of Parliament were able to pose questions, make remarks, and exchange their views regarding the SER.
