On March 5th, 2025, a delegation of the Social Economic Council (SER) of Sint Maarten visited Curaçao to attend a lecture at the University of Curaçao titled “Navigating the Narrow Path to Broad Prosperity: A Societal Transition.” The event was hosted by SER Curacao and Professor Kim Putters, Chairman of the SER of the Netherlands and Professor of Broad Prosperity at Tilburg University.
During his speech, Professor Putters emphasized the importance of strengthened collaboration between the Netherlands and Curaçao to tackle shared societal challenges, including population aging, health disparities, inequality of opportunity, climate change, regulatory pressure, and geopolitical tensions. He underscored that achieving broad prosperity requires a holistic approach that goes beyond economic growth to also prioritize social cohesion, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
