Philipsburg–On Wednesday, June 23, 2026, the Secretariat of the Social Economic Council (SER) welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labor. The delegation was led by Legal Advisor of the department of Labor, Ms. E. Cairo, LL.M., and comprised representatives from the Ministry’s various departments. The SER was represented by Acting Secretary-General/Senior Policy Advisor, drs. ing. S. Arnell, and Policy Advisor, Ms. Jamie Mourillon.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide the Ministry with a better understanding of the statutory mandate, functions, and operations of the SER, as well as to obtain clarity regarding the procedures and methodologies employed by the Secretariat in the execution of its duties. During the meeting, Ms. Arnell and Mrs. Mourillon delivered a presentation on the National Ordinance SER and provided an overview of the procedures followed in the processing and preparation of advisory requests submitted to the SER. The presentation further addressed the role of the Secretariat in supporting the Council in the performance of its statutory advisory function.
Following the presentation, Ms. S. Arnell responded to various questions raised by representatives of the different departments within the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, providing further clarification on the SER’s mandate, working methods, and advisory processes.
The meeting contributed to strengthening institutional understanding and fostering constructive cooperation between the Ministry and the SER Secretariat.
