PHILIPSBURG— Artech Consulting recently conducted a successful workshop for the staff and management of the Social Economic Council (SER) of Sint Maarten. The workshop was held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, and was designed to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered tools in promoting good governance and enhancing the council’s advisory role.
The workshop featured an in-depth presentation on Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI-powered productivity tool that provides real-time intelligence to help users complete tasks more efficiently and improve their overall work experience. The presentation, led by Information Technology (IT) specialist Mr. Jean-Sébastien Hamlet, highlighted how Copilot can support SER’s mission by providing insights into key economic indicators, such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), consumption, investment, unemployment rate, inflation, international trade, and other relevant data to assist decision-making and policy recommendations. Key elements from the presentation included unlocking Insights: Copilot’s ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights, helping SER track progress against key goals and identify areas for improvement. Enhanced Productivity: demonstrating how Copilot integrates with Microsoft 365 apps to streamline tasks, enhance productivity, and improve user experience. Data Security and Privacy: emphasizing Copilot’s commitment to data security and privacy, ensuring that all data is handled in compliance with existing policies.
This workshop marks a significant step forward in SER’s journey towards leveraging advanced AI tools to enhance their advisory capabilities and promote good governance in Sint Maarten. “At the moment Microsoft 365 Copilot is not in use by the staff and management of the SER. Prior to a possible introduction of the AI tool, more testing and research will be needed as it pertains to the entire cybersecurity of the SER. It is important to use the technology with a proper awareness of the risks it poses.” said Gerard Richardson, Secretary-General of the advisory body. Artech consulting is a company that’s specialized in IT services and consulting. Mr. Hamlet looks forward to continuing its fruitful collaboration with the secretariat and supporting their mission with innovative solutions for increased effective advice to the government and parliament of the country.
